Healing Ourselves One Day at A Time
Longtime health problems can often cause a lifetime of
decreased vitality, poor
health, depression and feelings of hopelessness. Yet for
many of us, we live and
adapt to our limited life, not knowing that we can live a
healthier, happier life.
In fact, we are meant to live our lives fully alive. We
can heal ourselves. Our healing powers lie in our ability
to use our mind and spirit. We can truly feel alive and
well again. All of us are healers. We only need to get
our of our own way, and expect truly significant,
powerful effects to occur. We also must have the intent
to heal, along with an inner knowing that a spiritual
essence of our being exists and that the universe
supports us. This expectation will lead us into healing.
The problem exists when we do not expect a healing, but
rather expect to feel ill, or to feel old. We have a
choice to change the way our mind has been programmed for
so long and we can re-program new messages that are life
affirming.
We often find ourselves worrying, fearful and doubtful of
our own abilities.
We are told that we need to give the authority of healing
to physicians,nurses and other healthcare personnel. We
fail to realize that physicians and other healthcare
personnel provide us with medical services, treatments,
surgery,and drugs, and are not a substitute for our own
self-care and healing . We must do our own healing.
Evaluate your lifestyle, nutrition, relaxation avenues,
friends and family. Are you living the life you are
suppose to live? How much effort are you putting into
being well? You will need to discipline yourself so that
you can focus your full attention on your inner self for
wellness and vitality. A program that is holistic,
incorporating many different aspects of your life will be
most successful .
Progressive Relaxation/Imagery:
Breathe in and out. With every breath you take in, feel
inspired. With every
breath out, release and let go of all the toxins and
irritants your body has
been holding in your cells. Now imagine your cells, see
them vital,and alive. See
them freeing themselves from these toxins. As the toxins
are released, imagine
your liver excreting these substances, then through your
kidneys, and skin excreting them out of your body forever.
Everyday for ten minutes you will do this exercise of
imagery and relaxation
Changing your Environment
Your environment must feel comfortable and peaceful. You
will have fresh
flowers, plants at home and in the office. You will let
go of clutter. Release
old books, clothes of the past. Clean up( have someone
who can do this with you). Use non-toxic cleaners. Pull
up the shades. Let the sun in. Brighten up your
surroundings. Enjoy a sense of health, and vitality in
your environment now and incorporate it into your being.
Allow feelings,and emotions to be released as you are
letting go of thing that you no longer need. You may want
to keep a journal, and write down these feelings. Letting
go of the past and accepting change in your life is life
affirming, and can start right now. You can also add new
music into your home that is calming, peaceful and serene.Fresh
flowers once a
week will add beautiful aromas and physical beauty. This
will add to your sense
of well-being.
Bath as Therapy
You will be taking baths a lot now. Warm to hot baths,
hot is preferable, as the heat of the water allows the
skin pores to open allowing toxins to be removed through
the skin. Be especially careful to test the water, so as
not to burn yourself. You will need to add aromatherapy
such as lavendar, geranium, rose and then alternate these
daily. Five to ten drops is all that is necessary to a
full tub of water. Immerse your entire body. Have someone
who can help you with this if you need assistance. Before
bathing use A stiff body brush to your dry skin and brush
your skin. This will rid your body of some of the dead
skin cells, and give your body the greatest opportunity
to absorb the health benefits of the hot water , and
aromatherapies. Stay in the tub for about 30 minutes
daily.
Nutrition and Exercise
Start walking, if you havent started. Thirty
minutes a day is good to get started.
You can pick up some speed as you progress. Drink plenty
of fresh water daily.
Include fruits, vegetables, protein and follow the
pyramid for allowances. It is
best to buy organic foods, without pesticides or
chemicals in the soil where the
foods are grown. Avoid any artificial additives,
caffeine, alcohol. Remember to
take one day at a time, and to be kind to yourself.
Support Systems
Keep on track with your program. It is essential that you
ask the support of
your family and friends. Develop relationships that are
giving and be with people
who have a positive outlook. Join a support group or form
one in your community
one in which you can share experiences, and where people
are genuinely concerned about each other. Support groups
have been known to have positive results for anyone going
through health challenges, as well as for anyone going
through life changing events.
Combining a lifestyle change with a healthy attitude of
the mind and spirit will
result in nothing less than miraculous happenings. It is
also imperative to see a Holistic Practitioner who can
help you release negative energy, through energy work,
active listening, and professional counseling to assist
you in raising your consciousness. Change will occur on
physical, emotional, spiritual and biological levels,
manifesting itself in a healthier you.
