The Earth is Round
By: Peter Stankov
Everybody knows it. If you tell them they’ll laugh and say “Even a small
child knows this.” But the truth is, they think they know the Earth is
round but they don’t feel it. They trust astronomers.
Most people walk around like they are on a plane. The sky is up above
them, the ground is a plane down below. Few people realize reality – the
Earth is a ball that attracts us like a magnet.
Realizing and sensing this obvious fact will improve your Tai Chi
practice. Because if you sense this, gravitation becomes a thing you can
feel, not an abstract idea.
You’ll be able to see that people are actually ‘hanging’ from the
ground. They don’t ‘fall’ in the open space, because the powerful force
of gravitation attracts them to the center of the Earth and holds them
to its surface.
When you walk, you actually use force against the force that pulls you
to the center of the Earth. And thus, you move your body, while keeping
it at a distance from the surface. First with one leg, then with the
other.
Walk on... :-)
