Approximately 2 million women will enter menopause this year. In
fact, these women will spend half of their adult lives in menopause.
Most women think of menopause as the point when they cease to
menstruate. They do not link irritability, memory lapses, or mood
swings to hormonal changes. There is, however, an increasing
awareness that menopause is not an event, but a process. A process
that can take as long as 6 to 15 years. These years, when the
ovaries begin producing less estrogen, have become known as peri-menopause.
Peri-menopause usually begins in the mid 40’s, but symptoms can
begin as early as the mid 30’s. At this point in life, many
women are performing the juggling act of work, home, raising families,
and looking after aging parents. We simply do not have the time to
retreat from life until we feel better. Essential Oil of Clary
Sage can help ease the symptoms of menopause. Its distinct scent
brings grace and ease to the peri-menopausal years. No woman
should be without it.
Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea) is a highly esteemed European herb.
It is widely cultivated in the Mediterranean. The essential oil is
steam distilled from the leaves of the hardy herb. It has a
distinct floral, nutty, and earthy scent.
Clary Sage Essential Oil is best known for its estrogenic
effects. It contains properties that are similar to estrogen and
helps to achieve female balance. As a hormone balancer, Essential
Oil of Clary Sage works to regulate periods, ease tension, and ease
cramps. It is a wonderful tonic for the womb and uterus.
As an extra boon to women, Essential Oil of Clary Sage possesses
cell regeneration properties. It aids in controlling the
production of sebum and can be used for both dry and oily skin. It
is useful for acne, wrinkles, and for controlling cellulite.
As an essential oil, Clary Sage has a powerful effect on the
psyche. It is sometimes called the ‘oil of laughter’. It
has an euphoric effect that is almost narcotic. It is a relaxant
for the mind, body, and spirit.
Clary Sage Essential Oil also contains seductive, aphrodisiac
properties that are perfect for women experiencing a loss of interest in
sex during the peri-menopausal years. Its ability to relieve
anxiety and stress make it an excellent choice for a romantic massage
blend.
Each woman must make the personal choice of using prescription estrogen
vs natural estrogen based on her own experience. Being well-informed on
Alternative Therapies and Natural Remedies as well as being sensitive to
changes in your body, will help to ease the symptoms of peri-menopause.
Aromatherapy should never be used as a substitute for qualified medical
treatment.
