Enabling consumers to subscribe to healthier teeth and
gums and a better environment
Somerville, MA The American Dental Association,
along with dentists nationwide, recommends replacing your
toothbrush at least four times per year. Do you know when
you replaced your toothbrush last? Most people dont.
In order to make it easier for consumers to practice
better oral hygiene, Recycline, Inc. has introduced a
subscription program for its recyclable toothbrush, the
Preserve.
Not only do toothbrushes lose their effectiveness, but
they also build up bacteria and unfortunately the average
American currently replaces a toothbrush only two times
per year. That is why Recycline decided to provide
consumers with a convenient and timely way to replace
their toothbrushes in accordance with dental
professionals recommendations. Brushers that
subscribe to Recyclines program will automatically
be sent a new Preserve toothbrush when its time to
replace, every three months.
Problem solved? Not quite. Recycline, an environmental
consumer products company, estimates that at average
replacement rates of only two times per year,
toothbrushes account for about 50 million pounds of waste
annually in the United States. Thats where the
Preserves recycling side steps in. The Preserves
handle is made of recycled plastics and the toothbrush is
entirely recyclable which reduces the reliance on our
countrys landfills and our natural resources.
Recycline is also the first toothbrush manufacturer to
provide consumers with a postage-paid, recycling mailer
that enables them to send their used Preserves back to
the company for recycling into recycled plastic lumber.
The packaging for the Preserve, a reusable holder that
keeps the brush clean and portable, is also recyclable
and may be included in the recycling mailer. The new
subscription offer and the Preserves recycling
program lets brushers replace without the waste.
Right now, roughly 10% of used Preserve
toothbrushes are returned for recycling. We are hopeful
that the return rate will improve with the subscription
program because it addresses consumers demand for
convenience in replacement and recycling. By offering
this new service which includes the recycling mailer,
more brushers can join the recycling loop and give their
used brushes a new life in a new product, says
company president Eric Hudson.
Recycline incurs a cost to provide the recycling system
for the Preserve, but the company feels good about the
responsibility it takes to both use recycled materials in
the Preserve and to provide a means for its easy
recycling. The used Preserves make an excellent
source material for recycled plastic lumber which is
great for outdoor products such as park benches and porch
decks, Hudson adds.
Complementing its environment-friendly qualities, the
Preserve also offers several dentist-engineered
advantages. Its patented, ergonomic design with a
backward sloping handle and elliptical cross sections
makes it comfortable to use and its tri-level bristle
configuration makes it easier to reach all teeth and gums.
Developed with leading dentists, the Preserve is designed
to make it easy to use the brushing motion that most
dental professionals recommend as the most effective
method for plaque removal - the Bass technique.
The Preserve comes in seven colors: forest green,
wildberry red, royal blue, grape, citrus yellow,
periwinkle blue, and transcendental translucent
or clear; as well as three textures: soft, medium, and
firm. The cost to receive a years subscription,
four Preserve toothbrushes with one sent every three
months, is $17.50 which includes shipping.
Subscribers can choose a specific color and firmness for
each brush and they will receive a recycling mailer every
two shipments. They can also choose to have the Preserve
sent out more or less frequently or increase quantities
for family subscriptions.
Interested brushers can sign up for a subscription and
