Creating Passion in Your Life!
By: Lalia Robinson Wilson
What is it that moves us forward? Why do we sometimes feel driven to accomplish a certain thing, our passion, and other times live without passion? Why do we sometimes feel strongly about something? So strongly that we will move heaven and earth to accomplish it? And other times feel totally without enthusiasm at all?
I believe we have a life path that includes certain interests and goals, with some “rest periods” along the way. One sign of being off our path is to be without passion. If nothing interests us, and we are not in a period immediately following a loss, then we need to look to see if we are where we are supposed to be. Feeling passion is a sign that we ARE where we ought to be.
Another way that we might be derailed is through health problems. Following basic rules of health does help us stay in touch with our passion.
How do we reconnect with our passion? We can start with following a healthy lifestyle, so that a health reason is not stealing our passion away. Sometimes a consultation with a health professional is in order. When we eliminate bad health as a damper of our passion, we need to look at whether we are living our lives in pursuit of our own life goals, or following someone else’s ideas of what we “ought” to do. Sometimes it can be hard to distinguish the two, so here are some clues. When we are following the right path, we usually have a feeling of flow and ease, the pieces seem to fall into place, our hearts and our minds are agreed on our endeavor. When we are doing what we “ought” to do, it seems like a burden; we have little or no feeling of flow; our hearts don’t feel engaged.
One way of navigating through this corundum, is to see our heart’s reaction to each activity. When we think about swimming, or moving to Tampa, or changing our name, does our heart lift? It might be scary, but do we feel excited? This is one way of checking with ourselves and returning to our path.
In astrology, Mars and Jupiter indicate our passion. Mars is what sets us to action. Where is Mars? The sign and house indicate how and where we act. Jupiter is our spirit of optimism and enthusiasm. Jupiter’s sign and house indicate where and how we feel in touch with our best self. In the Vedic system, Mars’s stone is the Red Coral or the Carnelian. We can experiment with either of these stones and see if we feel more enlivened. (Or we can get a full jewelry prescription tailored to our unique birth chart.) Jupiter’s stone is the yellow sapphire, or citrine. We can also experiment with these stones.
Essential oils can immediately move us to enthusiasm. The blend Passion really does work. This blend can be diffused or used several drops in a body lotion or massage oil, or directly placed on the skin over the heart, solar plexus and throat.
Whatever way we choose to embrace passion, we should! Life is meant for passion.
