Ayurveda is a holistic system of healing that originates from India. It focuses on the balance of the five elements, being air, fire, water, ether and earth. Your body is apparently made up of these five basic elements. You get an ailment when the balance is out. For instance, if you have constipation, this is a sign that you are out of balance. Hence, treatment must be administered to help restore this balance or your “doshas”. The five elements, when joined in different combinations, make up the three "doshas" which comprise the nature of individuals and of all things.
